Nova Justyn is an aspiring artist born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. After being challenged to a rap battle in the 5th grade, he became interested in the clever punchlines, and storytelling that solidified the impact in which the genre of hip-hop has made in today’s music industry.
On June 8th, 2018 he released a trio of singles through Unanimous Music Group. Given the title ‘90’s Baby’, each song is meant to bring-fourth a feeling of nostalgia for those familiar with the era.
The playlist begins with a calm, and collective sound. On the song ‘Better Day’ Nova captures the daily thoughts, feelings, and obstacles while searching for liberation inside his music. Inviting piano keys mix with a swift bass as he paints a vivid picture for the listener. The song depicts his views on life and, the hustle required to reach his custom definition of success.
The tone of this release abruptly switches to upbeat and alerting sonics. ‘Membrane’ is a duo of vividly braggadocios verses accompanied by a catchy hook explaining the focus of Nova, and proclaiming his own confidence. The beat is dramatic, powerful, and commands attention from the start. The sounds produced are similar to the likings in which Old Dirty Bastard, and Wu-Tang Clan brought to the table of hip-hop.
After the head-banging mood which the second track initiated, ‘90’s Baby’ concludes on a motivational note. Stylish horns, and rhythmic bass grace this track as the Artist conveys a strong message ‘Legends Never Die’. The title speaks for itself, the subject matter is based on grind, and ambition despite the current situation of oneself.
The musical arrangements of each record were constructed by Unanimous Music Group’s own CEO Kino Watson, as well as label mate Princeton Watson. It is evident that this creative team is nothing less than one to be on the lookout for in the near future!
